A pregnant woman's search for her missing husband takes her from London to Kolkata, but everyone she questions denies having ever met him.
Episode 1
I was on my way back from school when I found the taxi that had just dropped my dad off at the hospital. He had left the house earlier and I had no idea what was happening. I was aware that he was having a scan and that was where he had gone. We usually went on our own but that day he had decided to take me with him. That was the only reason I was awake. I tried to ask the taxi driver but he was a bit confused. The family were at the hospital, the taxi driver informed me, the woman must have been delayed, she had been in the car park for almost half an hour, they were all out of the hospital, she had no idea where she was going. I felt upset that I had missed the initial signs, that I had been so caught up in my own world that I had missed the obvious. We were now on our way to a different hospital that was in another part of the city. My dad would not be able to have any visitors at this one, they were all full and would be closed until further notice. He was well aware that the only time he would be able to see visitors was at the scan but I felt cheated. I should have asked the taxi driver, I should have been a bit more observant. I had always been good at keeping my mind busy, it was a way of blocking out any of the pain, but I had somehow missed this one. I was stuck in my own world.
A few hours later, my dad was wheeled in on a stretcher, I had walked in behind him, I was petrified, he did not look well. He was covered in a green sheet, his face pale and grey. He looked as though he was about to die. The medic was trying to wake him, trying to rouse him. He was not responding. I walked over to him and he looked up at me with watery eyes. His arms were stretched out and the sheet was tangled around his chest and arms. I put my hand to my mouth, I was sobbing, sobbing because I could see that he was dying. I was terrified, my father was dying and I had missed it all. I should have asked the taxi driver.
The medic had fallen silent and the phone lines in the hospital were ringing
