About This Game Omni Link is a visual novel at it's core, but it's unlike other visual novels you've read before. Game-play and dialogue choices mesh together so you can see a real impact to your decisions. A story is not only about reading, it's about experiencing. After the prologue, the game takes you on a mission for Zaos Corporation. You encounter an alien vessel and connect with an entity known as Ectype D-7, an attractive and powerful being of technology. You quickly learn that there is more to this ship and A.I. than meets the eye. The artificial intelligence is so advanced she is able to absorb energy from other ships and duplicate them. As well as use a mysterious ability called Omni Link.Match your abilities against a faceless terror. An enemy called "The Virus" awakens near the edge of the galaxy. Suns are disappearing and planets are dying. No one knows exactly what the Virus is or what it wants. Heavy on story- not really breaking new ground but it is competently written. I am not sure it qualifies as a visual novel because you have to win combat to progress [I think?]. I have noticed that there is an element of puzzle solving, but it is limited to ship behavior so far. The combat is moderate speed and there is a fail-state where you will have to reload a save file.. EV meets a VN. Also the music is fantastic.. I really didn't see that coming. Check this one out. Pretty good game, love the characters and story.Requires allot of work but it will offer a good time for any one else buying this before its done.Only buy the game if you want to support the development. I promise I'm not trying to be that jackass. I wanted to like this game. But... It's just not that great. It's a great concept, but poorly executed.The opening gives you motion sickness, as you're reading text while the background is flying by you at mach 3, and the characters are drunkenly wobbling from side to side. (Maybe they have motion sickness too?) The controls for the flying\/action part of the game are unintuitive and clunky. Now I understand that the controls are reminiscent of a classical 2d top down flyer, where W moves you forward, no matter what direction you are facing, but I didnt have a chance to get used to the controls, as even the first level on "Easy" has a billion particles flying at you, trying to kill you.Speaking of getting used to the controls, once you DO die that first time, during the flying seuyqence, you have no recourse, but to start the entire game over from the beginning, and go through all of your choices, and click through all of the dialogue. If this game were still in early access, then of course I would be forgiving of this. But as a final product, I would say skip this one for now.. I played the kickstarter demo a long time ago and I gotta say I really enjoyed it, and that's the reason why I bought it on steam. In this updated version of the game though, I did notice some changes that I didn't like. In the demo some npcs had similar art syle to that of the main characters, but now some seem to have 3D-like character models as their character portrait, you know when someone is talking and stuff, that's the only gripe I have with it.I recommend you find the demo from kickstarter and try it out, if your interested in what your seeing on the video\/images on the steam page that is. Paying for an early access game is risky but in my opinion this game is worth it and its not that expensive.*will make a better review once the full game is out* I still can't decide who is best grill, Arcadia or Dawn. Even as an early release it is solid overall. Excellent character sprites, good sound tracks, no hentai tentacle monsters from the 4th dimension. The character dialogue leaves much to be desired imo but nevertheless it's not like the stuff you'll find in fanfiction.net. Jokes aside the interactions are nice and I can't wait so see the rest of the story unfold.The fact you have the creator soloing this speaks volumes of his\/her talent. Tbh it's nice to play these sorts of games and not feel like you're alone. You get spaceship buddies that can actually fight back!Currently I'd give this game in it's current state a 9.69\/10
